Common Sense Goes a Long Way.Hackers and scammers are counting on employees to be in too much of a hurry, tootrusting, and too social to the point of carelessly clicking on malicious links andattachments. A lot of damage can be prevented if employees exercise good judgmentand have a healthy air of distrust. According to security expert Brian Krebs: “The rulesfor downloads are simple: If you didn’t go looking for it, don’t install it. If you installed it,update it. If you don’t need it, delete it. And never click on unknown links or pop-ups.” 32Employees should use good judgment by inspecting links before clicking. This can bedone very easily by hovering (not clicking) over the links. This technique will reveal theactual address that you will be directed to before clicking.
