269Chapter 11 – Profession of Naturopathy3: A list of designated classes of prescription therapeutic productsshould be approved in regulations under the Naturopathy Act, 2007.The list should be comprised of the following:Class: Prescription Therapeutic Products4: A list of designated classes of drugs should be approved inregulations under the Naturopathy Act, 2007. The list should becomprised of the following:Class: Anti-infectivesSubclass: AntibioticsSubclass: AntifungalsSubclass: AntiviralsSubclass: MiscellaneousClass: CNS AgentsSubclass: Analgesics <strong>and</strong> antipyreticsSubclass: NSAIDsClass: Skin <strong>and</strong> Mucous Membrane Agents9. Implementation ProposalsTo implement HPRAC’s recommendations, the following changes tostatutes <strong>and</strong> regulations are proposed:1. That subsection 1(1) of the Naturopathy Act, 2007 be amended to addthe following:“Prescription therapeutic product” has the same meaning as inthe Food <strong>and</strong> Drugs Act (Canada).2. That paragraph 5 of section 4(1) of the Naturopathy Act, 2007 berepealed <strong>and</strong> the following substituted:Authorized acts5. Communicating a diagnosis made by the member identifying,as the cause of an individual’s symptoms, a disease, disorderor dysfunction that can be identified from,i. the individual’s health history,ii. the findings of a comprehensive health examination, oriii. the results of any prescribed naturopathic examinations.HPRAC Critical Links January 2009
