417Chapter 18 – Summary of Proposals for ImplementationIndividual scope of practice for podiatrists5.3 A member is responsible for identifying the limits of his or hereducational preparation <strong>and</strong> competencies, <strong>and</strong> for resolvingsituations beyond his or her expertise by consulting with orreferring patients to other health professionals.4. That section 13 of the Chiropody Act, 1991 be repealed <strong>and</strong> the followingsubstituted:Regulations13. Subject to the approval of the Lieutenant Governor in Council<strong>and</strong> with prior review by the Minister, the Council may makeregulations regulating the prescribing, dispensing <strong>and</strong> sale of drugsby members, requiring members to keep prescribed records <strong>and</strong> toprovide to the Minister reports containing prescribed informationrespecting the prescribing, dispensing <strong>and</strong> sale of drugs.5. That sections 1 through 4 of Ontario Regulation 203/94 under theChiropody Act, 1991 (General) be repealed <strong>and</strong> replaced by thefollowing:PART ICONTROLLED ACTS AND STANDARDS OF PRACTICE1.(1) The College shall develop, establish <strong>and</strong> maintain st<strong>and</strong>ards ofpractice for those procedures performed under the authority ofparagraph 2 <strong>and</strong> 3 of subsection 5(1) <strong>and</strong> paragraph 3 <strong>and</strong> 4 ofsubsection 5(2) of the Act.(2) The st<strong>and</strong>ards of practice referred to in subsection (1) shall bedeveloped on the recommendation of the Chiropody St<strong>and</strong>ardsCommittee.(3) The College shall establish the Chiropody St<strong>and</strong>ards Committeereferred to in subsection (2) <strong>and</strong> shall appoint the membership ofthe Chiropody St<strong>and</strong>ards Committee, which shall include, at aminimum, one or more:(a) members of the Council;(b) members of the College (including practitioners <strong>and</strong>educators);(c) persons who are not <strong>and</strong> have not been members ofthe College or of the Council;(d) members of the College of Physicians <strong>and</strong> Surgeons ofOntario, approved by the College of Physicians <strong>and</strong>Surgeons of Ontario;HPRAC Critical Links January 2009
