361Chapter 14 – Profession of Pharmacyv) cardiovascular drugs,vi) CNS agents – analgesics <strong>and</strong> antipyretics - NSAIDs,anticonvulsants, psychotherapeutic agents,anorexigenic agents <strong>and</strong> respiratory <strong>and</strong> cerebralstimulants, anxiolytics, sedatives <strong>and</strong> hypnotics,antimanic agents, antimigraine agents,antiparkinsonian agents,vii) electrolytic, caloric <strong>and</strong> water balance,viii) respiratory tract agents,ix) eye, ear, nose <strong>and</strong> throat preparations,x) gastrointenstinal drugs,xi) hormones <strong>and</strong> synthetic substitutes,xii) skin <strong>and</strong> mucous membrane agents,xiii) vitamins, <strong>and</strong>xiv) miscellaneous therapeutic agents.(c) A member may only prescribe drugs under the authority ofparagraph 4 of section 4 of the Act:(a) for the purposes of either medication therapymanagement, smoking cessation therapy or as otherwiseprescribed in the regulations; <strong>and</strong>(b) only those drugs with the classes designated in subsection6(b) that are listed in the Drug List <strong>and</strong> must prescribethose listed drugs in accordance with the terms,limitations <strong>and</strong> conditions contained in the Drug List.(7) For the purposes of clause 28(6)(c),“medication therapy management” means professional activities<strong>and</strong> responsibilities of the member designed to optimizetherapeutic outcomes for a patient according to the needs of theindividuals being treated as set out in detail in the st<strong>and</strong>ards ofpractice established <strong>and</strong> published by the College from time totime; <strong>and</strong>“smoking cessation therapy” means professional activities <strong>and</strong>responsibilities of the member designed to assess, initiate <strong>and</strong>monitor the most appropriate therapy for smoking cessation,including the prescribing of designated drugs as set out inregulation <strong>and</strong> in the st<strong>and</strong>ards of practice established <strong>and</strong>published by the College from time to time.6. That section 29.1(a) of Ontario Regulation 202/94 under the PharmacyAct, 1991 (General) be repealed <strong>and</strong> the following substituted:29.1 (a) prescribe, dispense, sell or compound drugs;HPRAC Critical Links January 2009
