374Chapter 15 – Profession of PhysiotherapyIndividual scope of practice for physiotherapists4.3 A member is responsible for identifying the limits of his orher educational preparation <strong>and</strong> competencies, <strong>and</strong> forresolving situations beyond his or her expertise byconsulting with or referring patients to other healthprofessionals.4. That the Physiotherapy Act, 1991 be amended by adding the followingsection:Regulations11(b) Subject to the approval of the Lieutenant Governor inCouncil <strong>and</strong> with prior review by the Minister, the Councilmay make regulations:(i) specifying requirements for the performance of proceduresunder the authority of paragraph 1, 2, 4, 6 or 7 of section 4;<strong>and</strong>(ii) prescribing the forms of energy that a member may order forthe purpose of paragraph 7 of section 4 of the Act <strong>and</strong>prescribing the purpose for which, or the circumstances inwhich, the form of energy may be ordered.5. That Ontario Regulation 532/98 under the Physiotherapy Act, 1991(General) be amended by adding the following:6(6) It is a term, condition <strong>and</strong> limitation of a certificate ofregistration of any class that the holder who performs aprocedure under the authority of paragraph 1, 2, 6 or 7 ofsection 4 must: (a) provide satisfactory evidence of successfulcompletion of a post-graduate program that meets approvedcriteria; <strong>and</strong> (b) ensure the procedure performed does notexceed the level of training completed.(7) It is a term, condition <strong>and</strong> limitation of a certificate ofregistration of any class that the holder who performs aprocedure under the authority of paragraph 1, 2, 4, 6 or 7 ofsection 4 must ensure the procedure is performed in accordancewith any st<strong>and</strong>ards of practice established by the College fromtime to time.(8) For the purposes of paragraph 7 of section 4 of the Act, amember may order the application of electromagnetism formagnetic resonance imaging <strong>and</strong> the application of sound wavesfor diagnostic ultrasound.6.
