438Chapter 18 – Summary of Proposals for Implementation(b) permitting a member to perform a procedure under clause5(1)(a) <strong>and</strong> governing the performance of the procedure including,without limiting the foregoing, prescribing the class of members thatcan perform the procedure <strong>and</strong> providing that the procedure mayonly be performed under the authority of a prescribed member or amember of a prescribed class;(b.1) regulating the prescribing, compounding, dispensing or sellingof drugs by members, requiring members to keep prescribedrecords <strong>and</strong> to provide to the Minister reports containing prescribedinformation respecting the prescribing, compounding, dispensing orselling of drugs; <strong>and</strong>(c) prescribing the forms of energy that a member may order for thepurpose of paragraph 2 of subsection 5.1(1) <strong>and</strong> prescribing thepurpose for which, or the circumstances in which, the form ofenergy may be applied.6. That Ontario Regulation 275/94 under the Nursing Act, 1991 (General)be amended by adding the following section:5(4) It is a term, condition <strong>and</strong> limitation of a certificate ofregistration of any class that the holder who performs a procedureunder the authority of paragraph 5 of section 4 of the Act orparagraph 3.1 of section 5.1 of the Act must ensure the procedure isperformed in accordance with any st<strong>and</strong>ards of practice established<strong>and</strong> published by the College from time to time.7. That section 16 of PART III (Controlled Acts) of Ontario Regulation275/94 under the Nursing Act, 1991 (General) be repealed <strong>and</strong> thefollowing substituted:16(a) For the purposes of this section, “Drug List” has the meaninggiven to it in the Regulated <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Professions</strong> Act, 1991.(b) A member may prescribe the following classes of drugs underthe authority of paragraph 3 of section 5.1:1. antihistamine drugs,2. anti-infective agents,3. autonomic drugs,4. blood formation, coagulation <strong>and</strong> thrombosis agents –antithrombotic drugs,5. cardiovascular drugs,6. CNS agents – analgesics <strong>and</strong> antipyretics – NSAIDs,anticonvulsants, psychotherapeutic agents, antimigraineagents, miscellaneous,7. electrolytic, caloric <strong>and</strong> water balance,8. enzymes,9. respiratory tract agents,10. eye, ear, nose <strong>and</strong> throat preparations – anti-infectives,anti-inflammatory agents,HPRAC Critical Links January 2009
