Calculation of Daylight Illuminance
Daylighting design software must be
used to calculate internal daylight
illuminance. Software calculation
control parameters must be based on
the higher settings recommended for
calculation of values rather than lower
settings required for visualization
purposes. One such control setting,
the number of inter-reflections which
equates to the number of bounces of
diffuse reflected indirect light, must

The daylight illuminance in Lux must be calculated based on a CIE standard clear sky at
10am, 12pm and 2pm on the equinox and summer solstice excluding contributions from
any artificial lighting. The report submitted must identify the key parameters used in the
simulation, especially with regard to glazing visible light transmittance and the
reflectance of all internal surfaces.
Offices and Schools
No glazed area below 762mm height from finished floor level can be included in the
simulations.
