The three competencies are <strong>de</strong>veloped in synergy; they<br />

are worked on in an integrated manner to allow stu<strong>de</strong>nts<br />

to acquire the most meaningful learning possible. To<br />

interact orally in English is at the heart of ESL learning<br />

and is present when <strong>de</strong>veloping the other two competencies.<br />

When stu<strong>de</strong>nts reinvest un<strong>de</strong>rstanding of oral<br />

and written texts, they explore various types of texts and<br />

perform tasks by making use of the other two competencies.<br />

When stu<strong>de</strong>nts write texts, they express themselves<br />

for an inten<strong>de</strong>d audience and <strong>de</strong>liver a personalized<br />

product. Learning To reinvest un<strong>de</strong>rstanding of oral<br />

and written texts, and To write texts leads to numerous<br />

opportunities for oral interaction.<br />
