Thomae Apostoli in India novaordinatioAt its meeting on 15th March, 2007, theGeneral Definitory took the following decisionsconcerning the Restructuring of theProvince of India:1. A Dependent Custody will be establishedin November 2008 from territoryseparated from the present Province ofIndia, in the States of Maharashtra, Chattisgarhand Jharkhand (and will includethe land in Madhya Pradesh and any fraternitythat may be established in Orissa).2. The Provincial Administration, with thehelp of its expert committees and underthe guidance of the Delegate General,will examine the steps necessary for thisto come about, with regard to personnel,financial resources and other relevantmatters. They are asked to report to theGeneral Definitory on their progress.3. The General Definitory, in accordancewith the law of the Order for new entities,will elect the first Custos and hisCouncil. The Administration is asked toconduct a consultation in due course,and forward the results to the Curiathrough the General Delegate.4. The Mission in Assam will at the sametime be established as a Foundation dependenton the Province of St. Thomasthe Apostle.5. The Provincial Administration should,after consultation, send suggestions tothe Minister General for the Name of thenew Custody.
