particles attaching to each other, making the ore slurry a well dispersed suspension of individual particles.<br />

At the same time, the dispersant also plays the role as a depressant, which is supposed to make gangue<br />

minerals more hydrophilic and difficult to attach to the air bubbles.<br />

An analysis of the Cu, Ni, and S values in the Cu/Ni cleaner concentrate suggests that the primary<br />

diluents are non-sulphide gangue (NSG) minerals. It was unknown if these NSG minerals reported to the<br />

concentrate is in the form of middlings or by direct flotation. A mineralogical analysis of selected<br />

concentrates helped to answer this question and form the basis of the optimization program to improve<br />

the concentrate grade.<br />
