5.5 SIMODRIVE POSMO A functions<br />

Task and assumptions:<br />

A motor with external holding brakes should be used for hanging axes.<br />

The holding brake is to be controlled via output terminal 1.<br />

What other settings are required?<br />

1. Connect the relay to control the motor holding brake to output terminal<br />

1.<br />

2. Assign the ”control external holding brake” function to output terminal<br />

1.<br />

P31 = 95<br />

3. Activate the brake sequence control in the drive.<br />

P56.4 = 0, STW.15 = 0<br />

4. Set the parameters to open the holding brake.<br />

– P58 (holding brake, brake opening time)<br />

The brake opening time must be set so that it is equal to or<br />

greater than the time required to actually open the holding brake.<br />

5. Set the parameters to close the holding brake when ”controller<br />

enable” is withdrawn.<br />

– P59 (speed, close holding brake)<br />

– P60 (holding brake, brake delay time)<br />

The brake delay time (P60) must be harmonized with the speed,<br />

at which the holding brake is closed (P59).<br />

– P61 (holding brake, controller inhibit time)<br />

The controller inhibit time must be harmonized with the time that<br />

it takes to close the brake so that the drive cannot sag.<br />

Example to determine the controller inhibit time<br />

Mark the position of the axis and initiate a fault which results in<br />

the controller enable being withdrawn (e.g. change the setting of<br />

the software limit switch in P6 or P7).<br />

Does the axis sag (drop slightly)?<br />

––> yes, then increase the controller inhibit time (P61)<br />

––> no, then the settings are OK<br />
