time of Independence, were invited. This year the Officers of the 1958 Batch of the<br />
IAS were invited to share their views on 22 – 23 September, 2008. In all 21 officers<br />
attended the retreat including an IFS officer. A large number of them were<br />
accompanied by their spouses. The seniors were extremely contemporary in their<br />
approach and provided valuable insights into the changing environment and<br />
complexities of the administration during the discussion held on the first day of the<br />
Retreat i.e. 22 September, 2008. The recommendations given by the groups have<br />
been found to be very useful.<br />
17.12.3 They shared their experiences and suggested the topics for discussions among<br />
themselves in the evening of 21 September, 2008. The participants also interacted<br />
with the officer trainees of 82 Foundation Course in groups and officer-trainees<br />
have been benefited with their rich and varied experiences. On the next day,<br />
conclusion of the retreat organised at the Academy followed by the valedictory<br />
function at Polo Ground at LBSNAA, Mussoorie.<br />
CONFERENCE OF HEADS OF ATI AND STATE TRAINING COORDINATORS<br />
17.13 A conference of all state ATIs is held every year to discuss the issues related to<br />
the coordination of the 52 weeks district training of IAS officer trainees with the<br />
ATIs; Delineating clear responsibilities of the Collectors imparting training and<br />
recommending a mechanism to ensure the sustained interest of Collectors in the<br />
district training and other areas of networking between LBSNAA and the ATIs,<br />
including coordination of in-service courses. The Academy has collated the district<br />
training plans of all states and on that basis has suggested some points for<br />
incorporation in the state training plans. The conference also provides an opportunity<br />
to obtain feedback on district training from the officer trainees attending phase II.<br />
17.13.1 The 7 th Conference of Head of Administrative Training Institutes and State Training<br />
Coordinator was organized from 21-22 May, 2008. The 8 th Conference of Heads of<br />
Central Training Institutes was conducted in October, 2008.<br />
DIRECT TRAINER SKILLS<br />
17.14 Direct Trainer Skills (DTS) course was designed for amateur trainers with an aim<br />
to provide opportunities for the development of basic instructional skills. It was<br />
conducted under the auspices of Department of Personnel and Training;<br />
