OTHER MAJOR DECISIONS<br />

4. The other major decision are as follows:-<br />

I. A son/ daughter of a Government servant, suffering from any disorder or<br />

disability of mind (including mentally retarded) or physically crippled or disabled,<br />

would now be required to submit Medical Certificate from a ‘Medical<br />

Board’ (as laid down therein) once if the disability is permanent and once in<br />

five years if the disability is temporary.<br />

II.<br />

Special benefits in cases of death and disability in service - Minimum ceiling<br />

of Family Pension and Disability Pension enhanced (for Category ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’<br />

and ‘E’) consequent upon enhancement in the minimum ceiling of pension/<br />

family pension.<br />

PENSIONERS’ PORTAL – A MISSION MODE PROJECT ON PENSION<br />

5. The Department launched a Pensioners’ Portal for public domain in March, 2007<br />

with a view to facilitating information relating to pension matters and facilitate<br />

redressal of pensioners’ grievances. Following activities have been undertaken<br />

since then:-<br />

a) 27 Pensioners’ Associations have been identified across the country as part<br />

of the implementation process of the Portal. This has been done through a<br />

series of visits by the department’s officers to the states in order to assess<br />

their suitability/capability to implement the portal.<br />

b) The Pensioners’ Associations have been strengthened by way of installation<br />

of Hardware/Software at their locations; training of their representatives; provision<br />

of recurring grant-in-aid for meeting day-to-day expenditure; necessary<br />

guidance and advice from the Department;<br />

c) NIC Computer Centre in the Department has been strengthened through the<br />

provision of necessary Hardware/Software.<br />

d) 2 Programmers engaged to support the efforts of the Department for implementation<br />

of Portal.<br />
