17.14.1 Although the course is for those who are new entrants in the training environment,<br />
it was attended by experienced trainers/faculty of Central Training Institutes and<br />
LBSNAA who were familiar with the training nuances. However, a number of<br />
activities and micro practice sessions made the course quite participative and<br />
enjoyable. Participants were encouraged to share their learning experience with<br />
others. Giving and receiving feedback to and from fellow participants underlined<br />
the basic principles of adult learning process during the course. The changing role<br />
of the trainer – from being a provider to a facilitator was also emphasized during<br />
the course. The objective of the programme is to provide opportunities for the<br />
development of basic instructional skills and to create and manage a learning<br />
environment. The course was conducted from 11 - 15 February, 2008. Seventeen<br />
participants took part in the programme.<br />
RESE<strong>AR</strong>CH UNITS<br />
17.15 LBSNAA is in a unique position of being able to provide support to the Government<br />
for policy formulation through its research activities. It is with this objective that a<br />
number of research units have been set up.<br />
Centre for Co-operatives and Rural Development, LBSNAA<br />
17.15.1 Centre for Co-operatives and Rural Development (CCRD) has been functioning<br />
in the Academy since September, 1995. The CCRD is engaged in conducting<br />
research in co-operative sector, studying the difficulties faced by the rural poor in<br />
organising themselves into co-ops and successful interventions by co-operatives<br />
and rural development institutions in poverty reduction, to impart training in the<br />
areas of co-operatives and rural development to officers of the IAS and other Class-<br />
I Services, organising training programmes on capacity building of Self Help Groups<br />
and providing support to the National Institute of Administrative Research (NI<strong>AR</strong>)<br />
and other research units of the Academy.<br />
Centre for Rural Studies (CRS)<br />
17.15.2 The Centre for Rural Studies (CRS), in the Academy was set up by the Ministry<br />
of Rural Development, Government of India for the concurrent evaluation of land<br />
reform policies implemented by the states on the basis of inputs provided by the<br />
officer trainees who are undergoing district training programme. In addition to this,<br />
the task of concurrent evaluation of poverty alleviation schemes was also entrusted<br />
