responsibility for holding these tournaments is coordinated by the Board after<br />

ascertaining the convenience and choice of the state/ union territories. A part of<br />

the expenditure for conducting the AICS Tournaments is met by the Board in the<br />

form of financial assistance to the state/ union territories who come forward to host<br />

these tournaments. These tournaments are open to civilian central/state government<br />

employees. The uniformed personnel from the police, defence and other paramilitary<br />

organizations are not eligible for participation in these tournaments.<br />

8.2.3 The Board has conducted All India Services Tournaments in 10 sports disciplines<br />

upto 31 March, 2009 in collaboration with the state/ union territory governments.<br />

Board’s Affiliation to National Federation<br />

8.2.4 The Board is affiliated to a number of sports Associations/Federations at the National<br />

level. The Board’s teams participate in the National Tournaments organized by<br />

these Associations/Federations.<br />

Trekking Programmes<br />

8.2.5 The Board sponsors trekking programmes for Central Government employees in<br />

collaboration with the Youth Hostels Association of India. The Board also encourages<br />

Central Government employees to undertake trekking programmes of their own. A<br />

part of expenditure on these programmes is met by the Board. 13 Central<br />

Government employees have availed of this facility during 2008-09.<br />

Playing Facilities maintained by the Board<br />

8.2.6 The Board provides playing facilities in Delhi for the Central Government employees<br />

and has a sports complex at Vinay Marg, New Delhi which has facilities for football,<br />

hockey, cricket, athletics and tennis.<br />

8.2.7 The Board also maintains tennis courts at Bharati Nagar, R.K. Puram, Brassey<br />

Avenue and at Vinay Marg . There are Cricket practice pitches at Brassey Avenue<br />

and Vinay Marg Sports Complex, and a Volleyball and Shootingball court at Brassey<br />

Avenue.<br />

8.3 The Grih Kalyan Kendra (GKK), a Society registered under the Societies Registration<br />

Act, 1860, was set up with the following objectives:-<br />
