Chapter 2 • <strong>Plan</strong> <strong>Description</strong><br />

• The design theme should be continued throughout the<br />

project, including accessory items such as lighting<br />

fixtures and address plaques.<br />

• Ro<strong>of</strong> Design - Flat ro<strong>of</strong> design for residential<br />

structures should be discouraged. If used, flat ro<strong>of</strong>s<br />

should be a secondary design element only and<br />

should be contained within the scheme <strong>of</strong> an<br />

individual building design. Particular consideration<br />

as to color and material should be given to the design<br />

and treatment <strong>of</strong> ro<strong>of</strong>s because <strong>of</strong> their visual impact.<br />

b) Details<br />

• There are many building elements that come into<br />

view. Usually they are secondary adjuncts to major<br />

elements, such as a skylight on a ro<strong>of</strong>. In some cases<br />

they become no more than a texture, such as a trellis.<br />
