ISDN ANALYZER D1080 USER’S MANUAL REV. 5 The network replies to the RETRIEVE message with the RETRIEVE ACKNOWLEDGE message used to assign a B channel in the same way as for the basic call with the sending of the first reply message to the SETUP. The B channel assigned to retrieve the call can be different from the B channel used before holding the call. 12.2. TRANSMISSION QUALITY MEASUREMENTS The instrument allows to test the transmission quality of a network connection with another tester or with the instrument itself (autocall). USER’S MANUAL REV. 5 ISDN ANALYZER D1080 The instrument can independently generate and measure two pseudorandom bit sequences (PRBS) over two different B channels. The operator can set the following parameters: CallType, the call mode: − OUTGOING: the instrument sends a call to a remote user. Once connected, it generates its pseudorandom sequence and measures the received one. − INCOMING: the instrument waits for a call. As soon as a compatible call is received, the instrument answers automatically and starts generating and measuring according to the set pseudorandom sequence. In this way each instrument can measure the BER of a single network section. − 2 OUTGOING: the instrument sends two separate calls using two telephone numbers that can be different. For each link, the instrument start generating and measuring with an independent pseudorandom sequences. − 2 INCOMING: the instrument waits for two incoming calls. If compatible calls are received, the corresponding B channels are connected to two independent generating/measuring devices of pseudorandom sequences. .
