12.2.1. Test configurations
Several test configurations are available, from 64kb bit rate with
only one B channel to 256kb, using four B channels at the same
time in Primary Access.
There are two types of tests: “User-User” and “User-Network”.
The first type features a connection over the whole net section
between two final users, including the routing between the
networks. The second type tests connections between the user
and the corresponding local network.
If the “User-User” test is repeated several times, different results
can be obtained according to the network routing.
The IfTestKo field can be used to disconnect calls with high error
rates.
If the call is not disconnected, the operator can trace the call in
the networks.
! This field is active only if the duration of the test is
not CONTINUOUS.
By examining the test results, the operator can identify the
defective user access.
This access can be controlled by making other measurement
cycles and sampling the BER during a longer period of time.
! If the Iftestko field is used, the instrument stops at
the first failed cycle without disconnecting the call
in progress.
