ISDN ANALYZER D1080 USER’S MANUAL REV. 5 9.1.5. Line resistance measurement To measure the resistance of the tested line, select the R field and press (MEASUREMENT). The instrument absorbs two fixed currents ranging from 5 to 20mA and displays the resistance value. This value is reset either by starting another measurement or when the conditions for a ‘cold’ activation are present (see Paragraph 9.1.2). The R field displays one hyphen during the measurement. If the measurement cannot be executed, a question mark appears. This can be due either to high line resistance values or to energy consumption problems from the network (exchanges are equipped with current limiting devices connected in series to each binding). Three hyphens are displayed for resistance values higher than 1000Ω. 78 ! The maximum line resistance is approx. 1000Ω for NT plugs and 700Ω for NT1-Plus plugs with exchange voltage of 66V. This is true for exchanges with noload line voltage of about 66V. CHAPTER 9. “U” INTERFACE
USER’S MANUAL REV. 5 ISDN ANALYZER D1080 10. TEST LEVEL 1 This operating mode allows for testing both the S bus and the E1 quality. The test consists in transmitting and measuring a pseudorandom sequence at one end of the S bus or the E1 cable with the other end in short-circuit. The test can be carried out in continuous mode or with programmable duration from 1 to 65535 minutes. During the test the instrument displays information about the test data. 10.1. MEASUREMENT CONNECTIONS As regards the S bus, one end is short-circuited with a plug and the other end is connected with one of the two S interfaces of the instrument (either TO TE or TO NT), as shown in the following figures.
