USER’S MANUAL REV. 5 ISDN ANALYZER D1080
11. ANALYZING THE SIGNALING
PROTOCOL
Apart from monitoring the physical level, as seen in Chapter 8,
and showing the logical state and level 2 and 3 activities over the
D channel by means of LED’s, it is also possible to analyze the
messages over the signaling channel.
The instrument can be used to analyze the user-network signaling
messages according to ETS 300 125 (level 2) and ETS 300 102-1
(level 3) specifications both over Basic and Primary Access.
The DASS-2 and DPNSS protocols can be decoded using the
“PC108 for Windows” PC software.
In the version the capture and analysis of the messages
over the D channel can be STARTED also if the instrument is not
configured in MONITOR mode. This means that the signalling can
still be monitored while carrying out the simulations tests (BER,
TELEPHONE…). This function is enabled if the AUTO1080 option is
present.
! This function is not enabled if the instrument is
configured in Basic Access “U” interface and Monitor
mode.
The and in the MONITOR test do not depend on the
status of the other tests available in the instrument.
