The operating functions of the terminal, such as V.110 coding system or videocommunication systems, are not simulated. The BC and HLC values can be entered separately according to the above-mentioned procedures, in order to modify the desired octets. The setting of BC and HLC values is also useful to make SPEECH and/or 3.1kHz connections to a remote user and send B channel data, not using the internal loudspeaker, but with the V.11 interface for management and analysis by means of external instrument. MONITORING THE PHYSICAL LEVEL Regardless from the selected operating mode, the instrument monitors and displays information about the physical level of the tested line. The groups of LED’s located in the front part of the instrument supply information about the state of the physical level of the connection, according to the type of access (either Basic or Primary). The LED’s located in the left column, marked as “TO TE", supply information about the Network → Terminal flow, while the LED’s located in the right column, marked as "TO NT", supply information about the Terminal → Network flow. When the TE TEST mode is set, the instrument does not act as a user terminal, but as “NT”. In this case the meaning of the columns is reversed: the LED’s marked as “TO TE” refer to the Instrument → Terminal flow, while the LED’s marked as “TO NT” refer to the Terminal → Instrument flow. The instrument can be set to act as monitor in high impedance between network and user terminal, both in Basic and Primary Access. To do this, select the MONITOR mode in the CONFIGURATION page (see Chapter 7). In this way the SIGNALLING PROTOCOL ANALYZER function can be accessed as well (see Chapter 10). CHAPTER 8.
