ISDN ANALYZER D1080 USER’S MANUAL REV. 5 During the test the instrument checks the incoming and outgoing signals and gives information about the state of the call. The following tests are possible: 178 transmission of a pseudorandom pattern automatic answer with data loop over the used B channel making and/or answering up to 30 calls at the same time automatic generation of calls 16.2.1. Pseudorandom transmission To set this test, press the functional button that corresponds to BERT in the main menu. The instrument generates a call to the tested terminal. Once connected, it transmits a pseudorandom pattern chosen between the standard sequences 2047, 32767 inverted and USER. If the terminal can loop the B channels, a quality measurement can be made by checking the presence of phase losses or errored bits on the display. To generate the call, set the OUTGOING mode in the Call field. 16.2.2. Automatic answer The instrument can be set to answer automatically to incoming calls. When a call is received, the instrument automatically sends the CONNECT message and loops the B channel used for connection. CHAPTER 16. ISDN TERMINAL TEST
USER’S MANUAL REV. 5 ISDN ANALYZER D1080 The instrument can accept and loop all the available B channels (2 in Basic Access and 30 in Primary Access). To set the automatic answer to incoming calls, set ONLY COMPATIBLE or ALL in the CallRx field (see Chapter 6). 16.2.3. Making and/or answering a call The test is made from the main menu by pressing the functional button that corresponds to PHONE page. Once the TELEPHONE page is accessed, the instrument can make and received single calls, by simulating a telephone. Apart from the state of the call, the instrument indicates the values of the KEYPAD i.e. in the Rxkpd field, the CALLED PARTY NUMBER in the Rxnum field and the CALLED SUBADDRESS in the Rxsub field coming from the tested terminal. 16.2.3.1. Incoming calls The instrument only answers to calls that are compatible with the setup of its configuration. When a compatible call is received, the instrument automatically sends the SETUP ACK message.
