Work with the Assistant <strong>City</strong> Manager toprovide life/fire/home safety tips in Open Lineby December 31, 2002.20. Work with the Fire Inspector and Fire Divisionto expand the <strong>City</strong>’s fire inspection program toinclude public awareness, fire alarms, sprinklersystems, gas tank installations, and day careinspections by June 30, 2003.FY 04 Goals1. Work with the Division Heads to develop a set<strong>of</strong> benchmarks to measure performance <strong>of</strong> thePolice, Fire, Communications, and CodesDivisions and modify the CAD system to providetimely reporting <strong>of</strong> performance by September30, 2004.2. Work with the Police Chief and Fire Chief todevelop a schedule and reporting procedure forthe police <strong>of</strong>ficer and firefighter physical fitnesstesting by March 31, 2004.3. Work with the Police Chief and InformationTechnology Director to develop a PoliceDivision electronic bulletin board for posting <strong>of</strong>extra-duty employment and other items <strong>of</strong>information which <strong>of</strong>ficers can access throughtheir mobile computers by June 30, 2004.4. Work with the Police Chief and InformationTechnology Director to develop the case fileprogram on the <strong>City</strong> network for use by thedetective section, to expedite the completion <strong>of</strong>case files and reduce paper usage by March31, 2004.5. Establish a schedule on the network <strong>of</strong> PoliceDivision training dates and hours for rangeoperations to reduce overtime and comp-timefor the sworn <strong>of</strong>ficers by December 31, 2003.6. Develop a program to ensure that all Police<strong>of</strong>ficers receive the twelve hours <strong>of</strong> Statemandated training prior to July <strong>of</strong> each year byJune 30, 2004.7. Work with Information Technology and thePolice Chief to develop a system to evaluatedetective case loads and establish benchmarksto track the detective section’s performance bySeptember 30, 2004.8. Conduct a study to determine the potential <strong>of</strong>increased interagency cooperation to providemaximum fire protection within the <strong>City</strong>’s GrowthBoundary Area by March 31, 2004.9. Conduct a study to determine which fire serviceevaluation/rating system is the most reliable andbeneficial to the Fire Division and citizens <strong>of</strong><strong>Auburn</strong> by June 30, 2004.10. Develop an improved accountability system fortracking fire personnel during fire-groundoperations by December 31, 2003.11. Conduct a water resources study <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong>’sGrowth Boundary Area to determine the fireprotection capabilities where there are inadequateor no water mains and fire hydrants by September30, 2004.12. Recruit and train the student firefighters needed tomaintain full staffing for FY 05 by September 30,2004.13. Work with Information Technology and Planning toupdate our CAD data base information tocorrespond with the Lee County 911 Master StreetAddress Guide by September 30, 2004.14. Identify spots <strong>of</strong> poor police and fire radioreception within the <strong>City</strong>’s Growth Boundary Areaand develop possible solutions to resolve theproblems by June 30, 2004.15. Continue the removal <strong>of</strong> abandoned/dilapidatedstructures by targeting at least five buildings fordemolition by September 30, 2004.16. Have each Codes inspector take at least onecontinuing education class and become certified inat least one area <strong>of</strong> inspection or plan review bySeptember 30, 2004.17. Develop and implement a re-inspection feesschedule to reduce the number <strong>of</strong> re-inspectionscaused by a lack <strong>of</strong> contractor job sitemanagement by June 30, 2004.18. Work with Information Technology to develop orpurchase the s<strong>of</strong>tware for a building permittingsystem that incorporates completed inspectionsand the automatic status update <strong>of</strong> each inspectionto allow contractors to check the status <strong>of</strong> aninspection on-line at anytime by March 31, 2004.157
