train each day to Calvert has been adopted as a worst-case assessment. This issummarised in Table D5.1.The freight service outlined in Table D5.1 is expected to continue if the Schemegoes ahead. The table shows a range of expected freight movements from theCalvert Waste Terminal (either one or two trains in each direction per day areexpected). In order that the assessment reflects only the change in noise levelas a result of the Scheme, the same number has been adopted for the baselineand operational predictions. Using the lower number provides a worst-caseassessment as the lowering of the baseline noise levels resulting from thelower assumption of freight train movements will be greater than thelowering of the predicted noise levels as a result of the Scheme. This isbecause the higher frequency of trains which will run as a result of the Schemewill ‘dilute’ the effect of removing a single freight train.Table D2.1Current Freight MovementsTrain movements perday from the NorthJunction to BanburyRoad stone sidings(route section A-B plusPeartree)Train movements per dayfrom Banbury Roadsidings to MOD sidings(route section C minusPeartree)Stone Train 2 0 0Trains to 2 2 0Bicester MoDCalvert Waste 2-4 2-4 2-4TerminalTotal 6-8 4-6 2-4Train movements perday from the MODsidings to Bicester(route section D)Presently one freight train runs during the night-time period (early in themorning), taking waste from Calvert.
