Within the pit atleast 111 Lower Palaeolithicartefacts, including Handaxes andfragments, have been found.A World War II s grain storagedepot, opened in 1943 and closed in1967. Located close to the WaterEaton Bridge. This depot was a partof Buffer Depot 450F. At the time ofthe Defence of Britain survey (1995-2002) the site was described as inan uncertain condition.Evaluation carried out by AOCArchaeology Ltd at North OxfordPark and Ride in 1998. It revealedseveral ditches, one of which wasRoman, the others were probablypost-medieval.A watching brief was carried out atthe same site in 2002 by John MooreHeritage Services. This alsorecorded a Roman ditch.106 Cropmarks Extensive cropmarks of an enclosedsettlement site and associatedtrackways and field systems,possibly of Prehistoricor Roman date.107 Building Islip station.
