Thesecond are approximately 2 millimetres in diameter, and 8-11 millimetres in length, and are ofa medium p article size. Both of the se types of drop pings are likely from Myotis spe cies(Stebbings, 2 007). The mist netting caught a total of 8 bats with 1 of the se being a recapture.F our species were id entified in th e h and in cluding; 1 Sop rano Pipistrelle, 1Natterer’s, 2 Brown Long-eared, and 3 Daubenton’s. All of these were male and generally inbreeding condition.3.18 The second phase of the Anabat surveys showed similar results. On September 28 th a totalof 46 identifiable bat registrations were recorded at the north end of the tunnel during groundinvestigation works. The breakdown of registrations are 56% Myotis, 19.5% Long Eared, 13%Common Pipistrelle and 10.5% Soprano Pipistrelle. Most Myotis registrations were at a peakof 48 to 49 kHz, indicating Daubenton’s and Natterer’s bats.3.19 On 11 th & 12 th October the Anabat positioned at the southern end of the tunnel recorded 107registrations, made up of 27% Myotis, 25% Common Pipistrelle, 35.5% Soprano Pipistrelle,7.5% Long Eared (almost certainly Brown) and 4.5% Noctule, the latter probably passing overthe site. At the northern end of the tunnel 143 bat registrations were made, with 51.5% beingMyotis, 20.5 Common Pipistrelle, 18% Soprano Pipistrelle and 10% Long Eared. Most coul dnot be identified to species level, but the majority of those that were identified were Natterer’sBat (pea k freque ncy of 49 kHz with rang e of 31 – 71 kHz). Some Da ubenton’s (p eakfrequency 48 kHz with a range of 39 – 64 kHz) were identified and 3 passes by a po ssibleBechstein’s Bat (peak frequency 51 kHz with a range of 34 – 111 kHz) were recorded. Twopasses by a possible Be chstein’s B at were recorded at th e southern e nd of t he tun nel.
