<strong>Chiltern</strong> Line September 2009Bat Dusk and Dawn SurveyDusk Emergence and Dawn Swarming Survey Results3.4 The re sults of the su rveys are fully docum ented in App endix 3 with i nformation beingsummarised below and within Drawing Numbers: 9761/8/2/wor1 to 9761/8/2/wor31.3.5 No bats were identified emerging from sites B2, B6, B7, B16, V2, W6, W8 and W9. Howeverbats were seen emerging from Wolvercote Tunnel (B12) where four cavities containing batsand a bat hanging from the roof were observed during the surveys.B23.6 This was an activity survey of the scrub margins next to the A41 crossing of the <strong>Chiltern</strong> line.Registrations were very li mited with mainly Pipistrelle bats commuting past the bridge on th esouthern side. Some registrations were recorded away from the bridge, but these were faintand short, indicating commuting on the southern side of the road.B73.7 This bridge had a great deal of foraging activity next to it by mainl y common Pipistrelle bats,with Soprano Pipistrelle bats and Myotis species commuting along the rail line and along thetop of the bridge.B83.8 This bridge had lo w l evels of a ctivity, ma inly associated with commuting ba ts, primarilyPipistrelle sp. and some Myotis, with limited foraging activity.B163.9 This bridge within site of Oxford station had no foraging activity on the southern side closestto the well lit station, just commuting, b ut had co ntinual fora ging by a numbe r of individualCommon Pipistrelle bats on the north ern side and around the street lights on t he top of theroad bridge.W63.10 This small area of Willow Carr surro unding one of t he Great Crested Newt Breeding pondshad m oderate fora ging a nd commuting a ctivity by mainly Pipist relle bat s, but som e Myotiswere noted. Noctules were recorded commuting over this site.W83.11 Activity around these Crack and Weeping Willows lining the rail line was restricted to foragingCommon an d Sopra no Pipistrell e with the addition of commuti ng Da ubenton’s bat.
