Tuning Performance<br />

❏ NNM Daemons<br />

Do not use the logging and tracing options provided for the <strong>HP</strong><br />

<strong>OpenView</strong> NNM daemons (trapd, netmon, and so on) unless<br />

absolutely necessary.<br />

❏ Management Server<br />

Configure the management server as a secondary Domain Name<br />

Server (DNS).<br />

❏ Background Graphics<br />

Reduce the number of background graphics in the <strong>HP</strong> <strong>OpenView</strong><br />

submaps to a minimum.<br />

❏ Alarm Severity Symbol<br />

Suppress the appearance of the OVO Alarm Severity symbol in the<br />

<strong>HP</strong> <strong>OpenView</strong> submaps by changing the OVO app-defaults file.<br />

Set the line Opc.statusPropOnAllNodes to False in the following<br />

file:<br />

/opt/OV/lib/X11/app-defaults//Opc<br />

The default setting is True.<br />

Improving the Performance of the Database<br />

To improve database performance, split the database over several disks<br />

as described in your Oracle database manuals.<br />

supplied with the database and the online documentation in:<br />

/opt/OV/ReleaseNotes/opc_db.tuning<br />
