Tuning and Troubleshooting OVO
Solving OVO Installation Problems with Multi-homed Hosts
468
If Your Name Service Configuration is Incomplete
If the hostname stored in the name service does not contain all host
names and IP address associations for a managed node or management
server, incomplete name service configuration results. This incomplete
name service configuration prevents OVO from applying its
authorization algorithm. As a result, messages that would normally be
sent by OVO are ignored.
Before sending a message to the IP addresses for a managed node or
management server, OVO checks the IP address of the managed node or
management server. If OVO does not find the IP address of the sender, it
simply discards this message.
To check the name service, use the nslookup command:
❏ HP-UX
Use the nslookup(1) command.
❏ Solaris
Use the nslookup(1M) command.
You can use the name server or /etc/hosts:
❏ Name Service
# nslookup jacko
Name Server: nameserver.deu.hp.com
Address: 15.136.129.111
Name: jacko.deu.hp.com
Address: 15.136.123.138, 15.136.25.14
❏ /etc/hosts
# nslookup jacko
Using /etc/hosts on : jacko
Name: jacko.deu.hp.com
Address: 15.136.123.138
Aliases: jacko
This command returns only the first IP address.
