Installing OVO Agents on the Managed Nodes<br />

Installing or Updating OVO Software Automatically<br />

DCE RPC (UDP) (recommended)<br />

DCE RPC (TCP) (useful when communicating over a<br />

WAN)<br />

NCS RPC<br />

HTTPS/SSL-Based (TCP)<br />

d. Click [OK] in the Node Communication Options and in the<br />

Modify Node window.<br />

NOTE Switching between communication type "HTTP/SSL-Based<br />

(TCP)" and another communication type changes the platform<br />

for the node and removes all values for this node.<br />

Large number of nodes<br />

If you want to change the communication type for a large number<br />

of managed nodes, you can use the OVO tool opcnode.<br />

Add the OVO tool opcnode as an OVO application to the OVO<br />

Application Bank:<br />

a. In the OVO Application Bank window, select Actions: Add<br />

OVO Application.<br />

b. Enter a name in the Application Name field.<br />

c. Enter the following in the Application Call field:<br />

/opt/OV/bin/OpC/utils/opcnode -chg_commtype \<br />

comm_type=COMM_DCE_UDP node_list=”$OPC_NODES”<br />

Although you can also choose COMM_DCE_TCP, COMM_DCE_UDP<br />

is recommended.<br />

d. Select Start on Management Server.<br />

e. Specify user root to execute the application because opcnode<br />

must be called with root permissions.<br />

f. Click the[OK] button.<br />

The OVO tool opcnode is added as an application to the OVO<br />

Application Bank.<br />
