Teach vocabulary through 24 themed units, each with corresponding lists of words, pictures, and activities.
Themes include occupations, fruits, toys, food, forest animals, farm animals, jungle animals, bugs/insects,
clothes, tools, places, sports, vehicles, appliances, actions, and more. Each unit has three sections with activities
for:
* Listening and naming
Allows students to learn to identify items by pointing, naming, and learning the critical information about an
item in order to make a definition
* Following directions
Gives students practice in following directions and recognizing inconsistencies in the true-false questions. The
activities in these sections include scenes and specific directions for interacting with these scenes. The matching
activities help students zero in on critical features of the vocabulary. The true/false questions reinforce critical
listening skills and help students solve false statements by changing them to make them true.
* Problem solving
Focuses on identifying what’s wrong in a picture scene and solving riddles based on auditory clues
Let your imaginations fly for the new and innovative ways you can use these fun pictures and word lists. To get
you started, here are some suggestions: Have your students identify a picture; answer questions about a picture;
label an item you point to; define a picture and/or talk about its attributes, associations, or function; complete a
sentence about a picture; generate questions about a picture; create stories about a picture, or correct the What’s
Wrong pictures. You could also send a copy of a page home for the students to practice with parents or
guardians.
