Lexia Early Reading®
Ages 4 - 6
Lexia Early Reading is a state-of-the art, interactive reading program, specifically designed to increase
phonological awareness among 4-6 year olds.
Knowledge of the structure of language and basic sound-symbol correspondence gives early readers a strategy
to apply when confronted with unfamiliar words, and prepares them for reading success.
The activities in the program provide exposure to phonological principles and the alphabet, presented in an
engaging, age-appropriate manner by a friendly character named Lexie.
SKILLS REINFORCED INCLUDE:
Level 1: Rhyming, recognizing initial and final sounds, segmenting, blending
Level 2: Letter knowledge, sound/symbol correspondence, consonants, short vowels, consonant digraphs
BENEFITS AND FEATURES
Students who use the program develop and strengthen phonological awareness, determined critical for reading
success.
Students can work independently on the computer to practice skills.
According to the National Reading Panel, all students benefit from systematic and explicit phonics instruction.
The activities in Lexia Early Reading follow a structured approach - beginning with pre-alphabetic phonological
awareness, progressing to sound-symbol correspondence.
Interactive exercises branch automatically, providing practice where needed and moving on to more difficult areas
when the student is ready.
Teachers can assign program units to customize the learning experience for individual students.
Easy-to-read reports provide a detailed record of student activity and performance.
