Storycards: Adjectives
Duggleby, Sue / Duggleby, Ross 700.614
StoryCards take a new approach to learning basic language concepts by presenting the material in story form,
which children find both interesting and enjoyable. Beautifully illustrated, StoryCards are a versatile resource to
help to develop children's understanding of basic language concepts, to promote the use of expressive language
and to encourage sequencing and retelling.
The four adjectives in each story include:
- Elephant to the Rescue (Mala the Elephant): big, little, wet, dry
- A Home of his Own (Zak the Mouse): full, empty, open, shut
- Nowhere to Hide (Saba the Zebra): long, short, tall, small
- Time to Play (Pinda the Lion Cub): dirty, clean, dark, light
Each adjective is repeated several times in various situations to reinforce the child's understanding of its
meaning. This pack can also be used to consolidate other concepts, including verbs, opposites, pronouns and
comparatives/superlatives, as well as being useful for sequencing and retelling stories. The cards are designed to
tie in with Key Stage 1 of the National Curriculum.
