Designed for any age of student not yet able to tell time, Edmark Time Telling teaches the basics required to read
an analog or digital clock. Students also learn to say and write the correct time. The system uses behavior
modification and programmed learning principles as well as systematic repetition and review to ensure rapid and
thorough understanding of time concepts. It also carefully sequences time-telling skills and divides skills
necessary for reading a clock into small steps so that students can master increments of time from the hour to
the minute. No reading skills are required, making it ideal for students to improve language comprehension other
than English.
Formerly titled It's About Time, this kit is the result of many years of research with special education children. It
has been highly successful with students of limited ability, even those with IQs as low as 35. Anyone possessing
the prerequisites can learn to tell time with this program. Student prerequisites include counting, writing, and
reading numbers 1 through 60 and counting by fives to 55. The program is easiest to use with small groups of
students but may be used in any class that the teacher can adequately supervise. Students progress through the
program at their own rate. No special skills are required of the teacher, although it is recommended that two
practice clocks-one analog, one digital-be used. Teachers, aides, parents, and other students have all taught time
telling successfully with this program.
The 95 lesson pages and the record keeping materials are printed on heavy card stock and may be reproduced.
Laminated tabbed dividers keep each set of lesson pages organized. The entire set is designed to fit into the
durable storage case with handle for easy carrying.
