remembered questions thereby spoiling the tests ability to accurately assess their ability other than their memory.
The ABLLS-R is meant to be a curriculum guide and program monitor and the recommendation is that it be
redone every 6-12 months in order to fulfill that role as a treatment progress monitor.
Finally, the ABLLS-R is only as useful as the accuracy of the information that went into completing it and the skill
of the administrator in both completing the ABLLS-R and sorting through the potential recommendations for future
goals. While it is popular to say that anyone can complete an ABLLS-R, it has been my experience that without
an understanding of the behavioral principles underlying it the resulting profile is less accurate and informative.
We recommend that the ABLLS-R be completed by someone who is likely to be objective about a child and their
abilities who also has significant experience with children with language delays and other behavioral deficits
commonly associated with autism spectrum disorders. It has been our experience that the resulting profile is
more likely to be a tight fit with the child and the resulting recommendations much more likely to hit essential core
skills that when addressed will have the greatest impact on the child's life in the shortest timeframe.
Planning : ASIEP-2
The ASIEP-2 uses five components to provide data on five unique aspects of behavior with individuals from 18
months of age through adulthood. The components of the ASIEP-2 (a) examine behavior in five areas-sensory,
relating, body concept, language, and social self-help; (b) sample vocal behavior; (c) assess interaction; (d)
assess communication; and (e) determine learning rate. When combined, these subtests provide a profile of
abilities in spontaneous verbal behavior, social interaction, education level, and learning characteristics.
A major feature of this instrument is the empirical evidence of the strong intercorrelation among the ASIEP-2
subtests and the utility of the battery to distinguish among groups of persons with a variety of disabilities.
Percentiles and standard scores are provided for the five subtests. The technical adequacy of the ASIEP-2 has
been well documented in the literature and is cited in the manual.
COMPLETE ASIEP-2 KIT INCLUDES: Examiner's Manual; 25 Summary Booklets; 25 Autism Behavior Checklist
Record Forms; 25 Sample of Vocal Behavior Record Forms; 25 Interaction Assessment Record Forms; 25
