THE BOOK OF TELLS
origins to the ancient Byzantine practice of dragging
chained criminals through the streets, while the local
populace picked up dirt and rubbish and thrust it into their
faces. Fortunately this demeaning practice has long since
disappeared, but the moutza lives on as a highly charged
insult, often accompanied by expressions like Take five!'
