S 4.39 Deactivation of answering machines for
periods of absence

To prevent misuse, answering machines can be deactivated or disconnected
from the telephone network for periods during which they are not required.
This should be ensured particularly for answering machines with a room
monitoring function.
It should be noted that, in certain cases, inactive answering machines are
activated automatically if the connection is not established after a certain
interval (e.g. after 10 rings).
