S 6.22 Sporadic checks of the restorability of
backups

For reconstruction of a data stock, the feasibility of achieving this objective by
means of the existing backup copies of such data must be established. On
account of technical defects, wrong parameterisation, inadequate data media
management or non-compliance with the regulations prescribed under a data
backup policy, it can happen that reconstruction of a data stock will not be
possible. Therefore, sporadic checks are required to see whether the produced
data backups can be used for the restoration of lost data.
