S 6.30 Emergency circuit
Initiation responsibility: Agency/company management; staff
responsible for emergency preparedness
(contingency planning); PBX officer
Implementation responsibility: Administrators
In order to have lines available for the initiation of measures in emergencies, a
feature offered by some PBXs (telecommunications facilities) is to allocate,
by means of a so-called emergency circuit, the existing incoming and outgoing
lines to predetermined terminals. This ensures that essential institutions will,
in case of emergency, retain their capacity to act. Use should be made of this
option wherever it is available.
Additional controls:
- Is the allocation of lines for emergency circuit updated?
- Is activation of the emergency circuit defined in the Contingency Manual?
- Has the use of lines been designated in the Contingency Manual?
