T 2.16 Non-regulated change of users in the case of
laptop PCs
A change of the users of portable PCs such as laptops or notebooks is often
affected by the mere handing over of the computer. As a result, users
frequently fail to check whether the computer still holds sensitive data or is
carrying a virus. Also, after a certain lapse of time, it will no longer be
possible to establish who has used the portable PC at what time and who is
using it at present. Thus, non-regulated change of users without memory
checks or proper documentation can result in reduced availability of the
computer, and in the loss of confidentiality of the residual data on the hard
disk.
