S 6.26 Regular backup of PBX configuration data
Initiation responsibility: PBX officer
Implementation responsibility: Administrators
Regular backups must be made of the data stored in the PBX
(telecommunications facility). This can be done by means of an internal or
external tape drive. The backup cycle decisively depends on the number of the
executed administration processes. As an example of a reasonable frequency,
data backup after approx. 50 administration activities can be assumed. On the
basis of the very common rate of one change per subscriber and year, a
resultant backup cycle of one month can be established for 600 subscribers. In
addition to these regular backups, data should also be saved after any
fundamental changes have been made.
Additional controls:
- Are regular data backups made?
- Can the PBX (telecommunications facility) be started-up correctly by using
the existing data backups?
- Have appropriate tests already been carried out?
- Are the backup tapes held in safe storage?
