5.1.1 Overview of <strong>Oracle</strong> <strong>Database</strong> and Recovery File Options<br />
There are three ways of storing <strong>Oracle</strong> <strong>Database</strong> and recovery files:<br />
■ Automatic Storage Management: Automatic Storage Management (ASM) is an<br />
integrated, high-per<strong>for</strong>mance database file system and disk manager <strong>for</strong> <strong>Oracle</strong><br />
<strong>Database</strong> files. It per<strong>for</strong>ms striping and mirroring of database files automatically.<br />
