(9) Equalize TDU with sea pressure through trim line. During conduct of the Deep Dive Test<br />

Form on new construction submarines, the TDU Hull Valve will be cycled at depths specified<br />

by reference (i) in order to meet material certification requirements. (see Note 3).<br />

(10) Equalize sea systems and cycle hull and back-up valves as specified in reference (i).<br />

(11) Repeat item 2.k.(10) of this appendix - Cycle main vents and check for binding.<br />

m. After each deep dive, surface fully with EMBT blow from the depth required per the NAVSEA<br />

approved EMBT Test Procedure and the approved Sea Trial Agenda. Check air bank pressures before<br />

and after blow.<br />

n. Additional requirements may be imposed at the discretion of the CO.<br />

3. The following tests and evolutions will be carried out submerged following the deep dive:<br />

a. Steering and diving operation at full speed. (see Notes 4 and 11).<br />

b. Full power run. (see Notes 11, 12 and 13).<br />

c. Steep angles - operate the ship through several depth changes using large up and down angles to check<br />

operation of ship machinery. (see Notes 11 and 14).<br />

d. Time raising each periscope and mast at maximum depth and speed for which they were designed.<br />

Check training feature where applicable.<br />

e. Run and observe air conditioning plants throughout trials. Operate the air conditioning plant to<br />

demonstrate ability to carry entire maximum existing ship's air conditioning load, or 100 percent<br />

capacity.<br />

f. Run and observe refrigeration plant throughout trials.<br />

g. Missile fire control erection performance tests (Vertical Launch System (VLS) on SSN).<br />

h. Missile fire control alignment (VLS on SSN).<br />

i. Missile tube muzzle hatch operation (VLS on SSN).<br />

j. Missile compensation system operation submerged (VLS on SSN).<br />

k. Additional requirements may be imposed at the discretion of the CO.<br />

l. Comply with the CS/CCS test program with regard to firing of water slugs and testing of torpedo tubes.<br />

(see Notes 3, 8 and 16).
