Agradeço especialmente aos meus mestres, tanto do curso de graduação como de mestrado e doutorado, que compartilharam a sabedoria acumulada e disponibilizaram a base para meu aprendizado. Menciono particularmente o meu orientador de mestrado, Dr. Hans George Richter (Universidade de Hamburgo, Alemanha), que contribuiu decisivamente para minha formação na ciência da madeira. Não poderia deixar de mencionar também meus orientadores de doutorado, Mr. John Harding Chinner (University of Melbourne, Austrália) e Dr. Paul Grossman (CSIRO, Austrália). Sou grato também a meus alunos dos cursos de graduação e de pósgraduação da Universidade Federal do Paraná – UFPR, que colaboraram decisivamente para meu aprendizado. Os questionamentos que fizeram me ajudaram a pensar estrategicamente e buscar a melhor resposta.
