SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY HEALTH PLANNING

There are numerous official and voluntary health organizations in the country today

that are anxious to be of assistance in the school health program. These groups can be

especially valuable at a time when the school is in the process of revising a course of

study or preparing new curriculum materials. Agencies having to do with child health,

vital statistics, nutrition, accident prevention, fire protection, consumer health, drug

abuse, alcoholism, cancer, heart conditions, mental health, air and water pollution,

respiratory disorders, and the other diseases of mankind all have a real interest in

assisting school health coordinators and teachers to be more effective. Using the

expertise of all community groups and seeking to achieve balance in the contributions

from all sources is to anticipate a state of harmony, so well - defined by the early Greeks

as “ an orchestration of many powers. ”
