ABSTRACTIn my thesis it is dealt with the problem of using educational technology in the first fivegrades of <strong>pri</strong>mary school education.In the first part of the thesis the meaning of educational technology is defined and also someother essential meanings which are included the <strong>pri</strong>mary school teaching. It is also describedwhich teaching technology was used by teachers in the past and how it evolved through years.It is shown which functions has teaching technology in the <strong>pri</strong>mary school education and atthe same time it is issued a warning for teachers to be careful in choosing the teachingtechnology for their classes. There are also presented findings of Slovenian and foreignresearches which deal with teaching technology especially in using information andcommunication technologies in <strong>pri</strong>mary schools in Slovenia and some other Europeancountries.In the other part of my thesis the results of questionnaire survey are presented and interpretedwhich were filled out by classroom teachers who teach first to fifth graders (or in the first andsecond triad) of <strong>pri</strong>mary school in Slovenia. It was identified how often the information andcommunication technologies are used in the classroom, which are used and in what stages ofteaching. It was also identified which factors influence the most on frequency and choice ofthe information and communication technologies, what is the teachers’ opinion about theirown competence of modern teaching technologies and which are the factors, according to theteachers’ opinion, which influence schools’ equipment with the teaching technologies.At the end of my thesis are given general conclusions about using the teaching technologies in<strong>pri</strong>mary school and our expectations for the future about including the teaching technologiesin the teaching process, mainly about inclusion of modern digital technology and thecomputer based teaching technologies.Key words: the teaching technologies, modern digital technology and the computer basedteaching technologies, teaching process (class), demonstrability, <strong>pri</strong>mary school, classroomteachers who teach first to fifth graders
