TO THE INTERPRETATION OF AN URARTIAN FORMULA
The language of the Urartian texts is basically the language of formulas.
The curse closing the texts is expressed by several different formulas. Below,
I will consider one of them:

‘(The king) says: (he) who will destroy this inscription, who will break
it, who will make someone else do (this), who ..., may he be annihilated by
Haldi, the Weather Deity, the Sun Deity, all gods under the Sun, ...’
The inscription and the king’s name were supposed to be protected by
Haldi, the Weather Deity, the Sun Deity and other gods. Haldi, the Weather
Deity and the Sun Deity were the supreme gods of the Urartian pantheon.
The Weather Deity was called Teišeba, and the name of the Sun Deity was
