For staffing, <strong>FortisBC</strong> has anticipated adding an additional 9.5 FTEs to support the AMI<br />

system and new processes. The breakdown <strong>of</strong> these resources is as follows:<br />

• Technical Analyst – two additional resources required <strong>for</strong> the day to day support<br />

<strong>of</strong> AMI-related network infrastructure including servers, security appliances, routers and<br />

firewalls. This role includes the planning and implementing <strong>of</strong> firmware and application<br />

upgrades and providing help desk support;<br />

61.1 Please detail the number <strong>of</strong> existing <strong>FortisBC</strong> IT resources, including staff,<br />

contractors and consultants, that deal with network infrastructure including<br />

servers, security appliances, routers and firewalls.<br />

There are 13 IT internal technical staff that support and plan desktop, infrastructure and network<br />

systems. This includes firmware and application upgrades <strong>for</strong> the overall IT environment.<br />

Standard vendor support agreements are in place <strong>for</strong> all major components.<br />

Support Breakdown:<br />

• WAN/LAN/Active Domain/server/ corporate security support - 3 resources;<br />

• IP phones/SAN/UNIX/VMware support - 3 resources;<br />

• System control center systems, including related security - 2 resources;<br />

• Second-level tech support - 3 resources; and<br />

• First level tech support - 2 resources<br />

Response:<br />

61.2 Please provide the number <strong>of</strong> existing <strong>FortisBC</strong> IT resources, including staff,<br />

contractors and consultants, that plan and implement firmware and application<br />

upgrades and provide help desk support. Please detail the number and<br />

complexity <strong>of</strong> existing IT systems at <strong>FortisBC</strong> and a relative comparison to the<br />

number and complexity being added by the AMI Project.<br />

Provided below are the details related to existing IT systems, and the additional systems and<br />
