• Delaying requirement <strong>for</strong> new generating facilities and transmission and distribution<br />

infrastructure, lowering costs <strong>for</strong> all customers;<br />

• Reducing future power purchase expense (as shown in Table 6.5a);<br />

• Inasmuch as some market-based power supply alternatives may be fossil fuel based, a<br />

reduction in any reliance on such resources provides an environmental benefit.<br />

These drivers are relevant to <strong>FortisBC</strong> now, which is why the Company has contemplated the<br />

implementation <strong>of</strong> time-varying rates in the AMI CPCN.<br />
