Yes. Starting in 2014, <strong>for</strong>ecast resources required to support the main applications are covered<br />

as part <strong>of</strong> the New Operating Costs identified on Line 46 <strong>of</strong> the Gross AMI worksheet submitted<br />

as part <strong>of</strong> Exhibit B-3.<br />

35.1 As the MDMS is a s<strong>of</strong>tware application that maintains storage <strong>of</strong> the high<br />

volumes <strong>of</strong> data being sent from the meters in the AMI system, please explain<br />

the storage capability <strong>of</strong> the MDMS system including the duration <strong>of</strong> archiving<br />

capabilities.<br />

The MDMS is designed to store data from 150,000 AMI metering endpoints. Three years <strong>of</strong><br />

data will be available <strong>for</strong> immediate retrieval and four additional years will be archived. For the<br />

solution, <strong>FortisBC</strong> has estimated and accounted <strong>for</strong> 1.5TB per year <strong>of</strong> storage.<br />

35.2 What additional resources: hardware, s<strong>of</strong>tware, building space, equipment and<br />

staff, will be required to implement the MDMS application?<br />
